Quiet research, written down with care.

Marquen is a small advisory studio in Bangkok. We design and run market research engagements — landscape readings, customer interviews, and surveys — and write them up as documents your team can sit with and reason from.

Three ways we work with teams

Each engagement is scoped in a short conversation, then run by a small team. The output is always a written document and a working session in which we read it together.

Engagement A

Market Landscape Engagement

A multi-week reading of a defined market — the structure of demand, the shape of competition, adjacent activity, and likely directions of movement. Includes secondary research, fifteen to twenty stakeholder interviews, a written report, an annotated chart pack, and a workshop with the leadership team.

  • 15–20 stakeholder interviews
  • Annotated chart pack
  • Closing workshop with the team

Engagement B

Customer Interview Programme

Twenty to thirty in-depth interviews with current and prospective customers. We transcribe each one and produce a written synthesis of recurring themes, friction points, and the language patterns customers themselves use. Output includes the synthesis report and an annotated quote bank.

  • 20–30 in-depth interviews
  • Synthesis written for reading
  • Annotated quote bank

Engagement C

Survey Design & Analysis

A focused engagement to design a quantitative survey instrument, run it through a validated panel partner, and write up the results in a clear analysis report. Covers question drafting, sample frame, fieldwork supervision, and analysis. Suited to companies who can put a specific question clearly.

  • Question drafting & review
  • Validated panel fieldwork
  • Written analysis report

Page 03 — Why Marquen

A studio approach, not a factory

We keep a small caseload so the senior team stays close to the fieldwork. The result is research that reads like it was written by someone who actually conducted it.

— small books, carefully kept —

Senior fieldwork

Interviews are run by senior staff. Junior staff support the work but don't carry it.

Written outputs

Each engagement closes with a document. Slides only when they help; reports when they read better.

Defensible method

Sample frames, interview guides, and analysis steps are written down and shared on request.

A working session

Every project ends with a closing workshop in which we read the document together with your team.

— a short conversation, no obligation in either direction —

Have a question worth putting on paper?

A 30-minute scoping conversation usually tells us — and you — whether a research engagement is the right next step. We'll be candid if it isn't.

Page 04 — Common Questions

Questions teams tend to ask first

How long does a typical engagement take?

A Customer Interview Programme runs about four to five weeks from scoping to the closing workshop. A Market Landscape Engagement takes six to eight. Survey work depends on the question and the panel, but the analytical write-up is usually delivered within ten working days of fieldwork closing.

Who actually does the work?

A senior researcher leads each project end to end. A second senior runs the workshop with the leadership team. Junior staff transcribe, manage panel logistics, and prepare chart packs — they never run the interviews themselves.

What if our question doesn't fit one of the three engagements?

The three engagements cover the situations we're asked about most often. If your question sits between them, we'll say so in the scoping conversation and either combine elements or recommend a colleague who is a closer fit. We try not to talk teams into research that won't help them.

How do you handle confidentiality of interview material?

Interviews are conducted under a stated confidentiality basis with each participant. Quotes used in the synthesis report are de-identified by default; attributed quotes are only used with explicit written permission from the participant.

Are the prices listed final, or a starting point?

The figures are honest reference prices for the standard scope of each engagement. Variations — wider sample, second workshop, extended panel — are agreed in writing during scoping. We don't quote a low number and revise upward.

Do you work with teams outside Bangkok?

The studio is based in Bangkok and most of our work runs in Thailand. We also take engagements across mainland Southeast Asia where the brief calls for regional reading; we say so plainly when a market is outside our working knowledge.

Tell us what you're trying to read

A few sentences are enough to start a useful conversation. We reply within one working day, in writing, with a short note on whether and how we'd approach it.

As you'd like it on correspondence.

A paragraph is plenty.
